Lyrics of the week – Man in the Mirror

Homeless-2-Ian_Spence_large“Man In The Mirror”

I’m Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It’s Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .As I, Turn Up The Collar On My
Favorite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin’ My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street,
With Not Enough To Eat
Who Am I, To Be Blind?
Pretending Not To See
Their Needs
A Summer’s Disregard,
A Broken Bottle Top
And A One Man’s Soul
They Follow Each Other On
The Wind Ya’ Know
‘Cause They Got Nowhere
To Go
That’s Why I Want You To
Know

I’m Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I’m Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change)
(Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah)

I’ve Been A Victim Of A Selfish
Kind Of Love
It’s Time That I Realize
That There Are Some With No
Home, Not A Nickel To Loan
Could It Be Really Me,
Pretending That They’re Not
Alone?

A Widow Deeply Scarred,
Somebody’s Broken Heart
And A Washed-Out Dream
(Washed-Out Dream)
They Follow The Pattern Of
The Wind, Ya’ See
Cause They Got No Place
To Be
That’s Why I’m Starting With
Me
(Starting With Me!)

I’m Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I’m Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Ooh!)
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change)

I’m Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I’m Asking Him To Change His
Ways
(Change His Ways-Ooh!)
And No Message Could’ve
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make That . . .
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make That . . .)
Change!

I’m Starting With The Man In
The Mirror,
(Man In The Mirror-Oh
Yeah!)
I’m Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Better Change!)
No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make The Change)
(You Gotta Get It Right, While
You Got The Time)
(‘Cause When You Close Your
Heart)
You Can’t Close Your . . .Your
Mind!
(Then You Close Your . . .
Mind!)
That Man, That Man, That
Man, That Man
With That Man In The Mirror
(Man In The Mirror, Oh Yeah!)
That Man, That Man, That Man
I’m Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Better Change!)
You Know . . .That Man
No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah
(Oh Yeah!)
Gonna Feel Real Good Now!
Yeah Yeah! Yeah Yeah!
Yeah Yeah!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah
(Ooooh . . .)
Oh No, No No . . .
I’m Gonna Make A Change
It’s Gonna Feel Real Good!
Come On!
(Change . . .)
Just Lift Yourself
You Know
You’ve Got To Stop It.
Yourself!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
I’ve Got To Make That Change,
Today!
Hoo!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Got To
You Got To Not Let Yourself . . .
Brother . . .
Hoo!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
You Know-I’ve Got To Get
That Man, That Man . . .
(Man In The Mirror)
You’ve Got To
You’ve Got To Move! Come
On! Come On!
You Got To . . .
Stand Up! Stand Up!
Stand Up!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Stand Up And Lift
Yourself, Now!
(Man In The Mirror)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Aaow!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Gonna Make That Change . . .
Come On!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Know It!
You Know It!
You Know It!
You Know . . .
(Change . . .)
Make That Change.

Lyrics of the Week – Your My Best Friend

your-best-friend

Queen – You’re My Best Friend

Ooo. you make me live
whatever this world can give to me
It’s you, you’re all I see
Ooo, you make me live now honey
Ooo, you make me live

You’re the best friend
that I ever had
I’ve been with you such a long time
You’re my sunshine
And I want you to know
That my feelings are true
I really love you
You’re my best friend

Ooo, you make me live

I’ve been wandering round
But I still come back to you
In rain or shine
You’ve stood by me girl
I’m happy, happy at home
You’re my best friend.

You’re the first one
When things turn out bad
You know I’ll never be lonely
You’re my only one
And I love
The things that you do
You’re my best friend

Ooo, you make me live.

I’m happy, happy at home
You’re my best friend
You’re my best friend
Ooo, you make me live
You, you’re my best friend.

Seven Lovely Logic’s for a Peaceful Living

meditation-mountain-silhouetteI ran across this today on social media. My research did not reveal a specific source other than it is an Indian spiritual quote. I found it as part of a story of a traveler and an Indian wise man. In any case, whatever the source it is inspiring to me personally.

7 Logic’s
1.Make peace with your past so it doesn’t spoil your present.
2. What others think about you is none of your business.
3. Time heals almost everything, give the time, some time.
4. Don’t compare your life with other’s you have no idea what their journey is all about.
5. No one is a reason of your happiness except yourself.
6. Stop thinking too much its alright not to know all the answers.
7. Smile, you don’t own all the problems of world.

Lyrics of the week – All The Lonely People – The Beatles

Image

homeless-feet homeless Homeless-2-Ian_Spence_large Homeless and cold Homeless childrenAh, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream,
Waits at the window wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?

chorus:
All the lonely people, where do they all come from?

All the lonely people, where do they all belong?

Father Mackenzie, writing the words to a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near
Look at him working, darning his socks in the night when there’s nobody there
What does he care?

(chorus)

Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father Mackenzie, wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved

All the lonely people, where do they all come from?
(Ah, look at all the lonely people)
All the lonely people, where do they all belong?
(Ah, look at all the lonely people)

The song was written primarily by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. With a double string quartet arrangement by George Martin, and striking lyrics about loneliness. Even though I chose to show homeless people there are lonely people all around us. We may even work next to someone. Lets reach out to those who need friendship. It may be as simple as sharing a smile. Peace!

Led Zeppelin Reunion?

the-song-remains-the-same-2I have to admit I am a huge Zep fan. I have most of their music on vinyl and their entire catalog digitally. I have listened to it many times from from first recording to most current including some rare bootlegs. I have seen a ton of bands live but not them, I am sad to say. I do have several live performance DVDs, a great way to get a live experience. In some ways the a good DVD of a live performance has advantages because it really puts you on stage with the performers. It also allows you to enjoy a live music experience any time you feel the need. You are not dependent on if the band is on tour or not. In the case of bands like Led Zeppelin see them live is highly unlikely. Another advantage is you get to see the band in its prime. Reunion tours are great but in sometimes it is just not the same. It may not be the full or original lineup. I also like the rockcumentaries and have several of them like The Song Remains The Same and U2’s Rattle and Hum. Both of witch I saw when they came out in theaters and continue to relive at home. I remember when Rattle and Hum came out I was to impatient to wait for my friends and I to match schedules so I went solo sneaking a six pack under my coat. It was epic. I am also a big fan of the band Heart and my wife and I go see them pretty much every time they play here in Seattle. Ann and Nancy Wilson are huge Zep fans BTW and always play a Zep cover or two in each show. I would venture to say they really get the Led out. Dare I say as good as Zep..don’t kill me for saying that you would have to see it live to understand. We have several DVDs of shows we have attended. There are several times that we can see our selves in the audience Ann and Nancy Willson of Heartproving to our friends that we where there. 🙂 Watching a show on DVD that you have attended really helps you relive the experience. My collection of live performance DVDs keeps growing. If you have not experienced a live performance DVD I highly recommend it. You wont have to seek a six pack under your coat either.

Weekly Song Lyrics – Paradise Denver & Prine

Rocky Mountain HighWhen I was a child, my family would travel
Down to western Kentucky where my parents were
born
And there’s a backwards old town that’s often
remembered
So many times that my mem’ries are worn

And daddy won’t you take me back to muhlenberg
county
Down by the green river where paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry, my son, but you’re too late in
asking
Mister peabody’s coal train has hauled it away

Well sometimes we’d travel right down the green
river
To the abandoned old prison down by adrie hill
Where the air smelled like snakes and we’d shoot
with our pistols
But empty pop bottles was all we would kill

And daddy won’t you take me back to muhlenberg
county
Down by the green river where paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry, my son, but you’re too late in
asking
Mister peabody’s coal train has hauled it away

And the coal company came with the world’s
largest shovel
And they tortured the timber and stripped all the
land
Well, they dug for their coal till the land was
forsaken
Then they wrote it all down as the progress of
man

And daddy won’t you take me back to muhlenberg
county
Down by the green river where paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry, my son, but you’re too late in
asking
Mister peabody’s coal train has hauled it away

And daddy won’t you take me back to muhlenberg
county
Down by the green river where paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry, my son, but you’re too late in
asking
Mister peabody’s coal train has hauled it away

My one political post and warning (opinion)

I posted this on my Facebook page this morning and felt compelled to share it here. It started a great conversation.

People before politics. This polarization is the real problem today. We need to focus on love and compassion for each other. We need to come together people! As people as friends and as a community.I cannot believe the amount of hate!!! I am amazed at the posts, comments, rants FROM BOTH SIDES. Each side pointing at the other as if they are the stupid an enemy. (hating) This is extremely dangerous to us as a society. We better wake of from this or we are not going to like where we end up. STOP the hate!!! I think people are a little to comfortable on social media sometimes. There is NO single presidency that is solely responsible for the situation our country is in. We have been asleep at the wheel my friends.

I guarantee that you have people in your friends list that will vote differently than you. Facebook is not a newspaper or even a blog when you speak you’re speaking to your friends. When you say that this candidate is a stupid idiot. You are pointing at some of your friends. We are headed down a slippery slope here. We sit in our chairs and complain about political policies pointing our fingers at the other guy ( Insert political party name and our friends who vote that way) . It is wrong for us to think that just because we vote we are involved. This is absolutely not true, if we want to change things it happens in the community. If we want change it starts in your heart first then with people talking to people one-on-one. Then getting involved in our local schools, church, state, county city, local governments.

This is my opinion I express it to you my friends with love and compassion.

Peace!

Seattle Is the New Seattle?

I just read an article by MTV about the new Seattle music scene. I guess I have been missing on all the good shows here in Seattle. I keep hearing of good bands playing here and there. A few of those bands have friends in them, or friend of a friend.  I need to get out and see more shows.

QMP Playing at Darrells Tavern April 2012

QMP Playing at Darrells Tavern April 2012

There are a few bands I am following and I get out to their shows occasionally  but not nearly enough. One of the Bands is QMP. I have known the drummer Jamie Jensen since I was a young ladd growing up in Yakima Wa. The first time I ever jammed with a real drummer it was Jamie. He was not old enough to drive yet so I went to his place and we loaded his drum kit in my VW Bug and drove it over to my garage. It was a blast but I am sure we scared a few cats away. Anyways, the band is made up of Scott Larkin Jefferson (bass/vox) – Jamie Jensen (drums) – Joe Longo (git/vox) – Rod Taylor (git/vox)

QMP working on the new stuff

The guys had a regional following in the 90’s then went on to do other projects & have families. They have remained friends and recently QMP started jamming together again as well as writing some music. They have been in the studio and sometimes home studios, working on an album for several months now. I have heard a few of the mixes along the way. The finished album sounds fantastic and was worth all the work they put into it. QMP was recently featured on KISW’s on Loud and Local with with Jolene

Check out the new album on iTunes titled Full Color Pictures of a Black and White World
