Lyrics of the week – Feelin’ Groovy

cultural-values-during-60s-800x800Sometimes you can find deep meaning the simple words of a song. This song is one of those songs. The beauty of this song is, is that you can get that same groovy feeling from the music alone. ~mojo

SIMON AND GARFUNKEL – THE 59TH STREET BRIDGE SONG (FEELIN’ GROOVY)

Slow down, you move too fast You got to make the morning last Just kicking down the cobble stones Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy Feelin’ groovy

Hello lamppost what you knowing? I’ve come to watch your flowers growing Ain’t you got no rhymes for me? Doot-in’ do-do feelin’ groovy Feelin’ groovy

Got no deeds to do, no promises to keep I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep Let the morning time drop all its petals on me Life, I love you all is groovy

A Film and Movement to Transform Education

TestingWOW, I can’t wait to see this film. How many people feel this way about our education system? This is an important conversation. To my teacher friends who are stuck in the middle between politics and the students hang in there and keep fighting for what is right.

9 TED talks about the making of movie magic

I don’t know about you but I think movies are magical. I can’t help it when I watch a well done movie I immerse myself it. I believe it. I guess I have a great imagination. Movies are made for people like me. A good imagination is one thing a director tries to connect with. If he can hook your imagination he has got you.

Here is another great TED play list titled 9 talks about the making of movie magic.

Sound City – A film by Dave Grohl

images-2 The family next door and I are always talking about music. We like a lot of the same bands. Last week she came over and handed me this DVD and said I just had to watch it. She said it was about the Studio Sound City but kind of more about an old analogue soundboard that all these great records where recorded on. I have been trying to find the time to watch the film and finally sat down it last night. I have to say this is a really cool film. The film is a great snapshot of all these amazing records all connected to this same soundboard. Records like Nirvana’s Nevermind. The success of Nevermind is said to have rescued Sound City. If you are into music then you need to check out this film.

Lyrics of the week – Darcy Farrow

61YJsqhgCIL._SS500_

Darcy Farrow

Where the walker runs down to the Carson Valley Plain
There lived a maiden, Darcy Farrow was her name
The daughter of old Dundee and a fair one was she
The sweetest flower that bloomed o’er the range

Her voice was as sweet as the sugar candy
Her touch was as soft as a bed of goose down
Her eyes shone bright like the pretty lights
That shine in the night out of Yerrington town

She was courted by Young Vandamere
A fine lad was he as I am to hear
He gave her silver rings and lacy things
And she promised to wed before the snows came that year

But her pony did stumble and she did fall
Her dyin’ touched the hearts of us one and all
Young Vandy in his pain put a bullet through his brain
And we buried them together as the snows began to fall

They sing of Darcy Farrow where the Truckee runs through
They sing of her beauty in Virginia City too
At dusky sundown to her name they drink a round
And to young Vandy whose love was true

Darcy Farrow is a song written by Steve Gillette and Tom Campbell, and first recorded in 1965 by Ian & Sylvia on their album, Early Morning Rain

I was introduced to this song by John Denver

Here is a really cool story about this song. Doug Moe: The real story behind ‘Darcy Farrow’
